First street car in Seoul, 1899. To promote street car use, the passengers were offered free cigarettes along with each ticket purchase. Street cars operated until 1968.
Seoul has one of the largest subway system in the world with its very first subway line opening in 1974. There are 23 lines to date with 728 stations in the city.
