This historic neighborhood became a place for antique trading for those affected by the Japanese occupation (1910-1945).  However, it saw a change after the Korean War, gentrifying into a hub for artists with cool cafes and kids that smoke cigarettes.  Today, it is celebrated as a major tourist destination for its preserved architecture and tradition. It’s definitely worth the visit and you can find some cool traditional masks there.
